Meet Amanda Wallas, a Plum Martha's Vineyard Producer/Editor! Amanda is Plum through and through, moving to the Vineyard in 2007 from Plum Telluride. Amanda shares with us some of her favorite island eats and shops, but good luck prying the Vineyard's best kept secret from her!

How long have you lived in Martha's Vineyard (and where did you live before)?

I moved here September '07 from Telluride, CO (where I was a Plum intern), but I'm originally from Newton, MA.

What's your favorite beach?

Lambert's Cove beach, hands down.

Which is the BEST Lighthouse?

I remember going on a tour of the Cape Poge Lighthouse as a kid and loving it.

Favorite Vineyard restaurants (comfort food, fine dining, brunch)?

Jimmy Seas Pan Pasta and Season's Eatery & Pub, both in Oak Bluffs, are great places for comfort food. I love Chesca's in Edgartown for fine dining. Art Cliff Diner is absolutely the best place for brunch.

Best place to grab a beer/cocktail?

I'm not a big drinker, but I do enjoy getting tea and hot chocolate from Che's Lounge in Vineyard Haven. The Newes in Edgartown is a good place to grab a beer, especially during Trivia Night with Ray Whitaker.

Best Vineyard shopping experience?

I normally shop as infrequently as possible, but the Vineyard is a horse of another color. It's a great place to buy gifts- I particularly like Rainy Day in Vineyard Haven and Craftworks in Oak Bluffs. Laughing Bear in Oak Bluffs is my mom's favorite clothing store. Chilmark Chocolates would be my dad's favorite place to "shop".

Best kept secret in Martha's Vineyard?

It wouldn't be a secret if I told you ;)

What do you look forward to the most this Summer?

Swimming in the ocean again.

You've got quite a rivalry with "that other island" (Nantucket). Why is the Vineyard vastly superior?

I've never really spent any time on Nantucket, but I really like the diversity of the community on the Vineyard.

What's your favorite event on Martha's Vineyard Calendar?

The fireworks at Ocean Park in August.

You're stranded on an island (sadly, not Martha's Vineyard) with two Vineyarders. Who would they be?

Someone who can build a boat and someone who can sail it.

Favorite book/album/movie?

Just one book? I love anything by Orson Scott Card or Michael Chabon. My "album" is MVY Radio. Movies are also impossible to choose, but I'll say Children of Men.

Who's your celebrity BFF?

I don't even know what that means.

And perhaps the most important question of all...Pick a Superpower: Flight or Invisibility? Why?

Flight! Who doesn't want to fly?

Thanks Amanda!
