Every Monday, we post The Five Best Things to enjoy in the upcoming week. These things are selected by the Plum TV staff and often times by you.

They range from humble to haute and include exciting events, festivals and performances as well as dining, shopping and playing at various treasured spots, shops and institutions.

SEE

1) Let loose your inner cinephile and come to the Aspen Filmfest! This 5-day event, which is celebrating its 31st birthday this year, is occurring Wednesday, September 30 through Sunday, October 4 at a trio of venues in the area; The Wheeler Opera House and the Isis Theater in Aspen, and the Crystal Theater in Carbondale. There's an incredible line-up of great films being shown, like Amreeka, Capitalism: A Love Story, and Up in the Air, and this years honoree's include Stanley Tucci and Jason Reitman, among others! For more information on the must-see fest of the season, visit the website.

2) On Friday, October 2, head on over to one of our favorite music venues, the Belly Up, to check out the blues & folk stylings of local fave Jes Grew. These guys have been playing in the Aspen area for a while, and it's always a total treat to get to see them...especially when it's free! That's right, this show has no cover...sounds like the perfect Friday night in Aspen to us.

This weekly farmer's market, which closes for the season on October 17, features tons of delicious, locally grown fruits & vegetables, as well as a whole selection of crafts for you to check out. There's also usually a competition between local chefs creating their latest & greatest fall cuisine.
