Every Monday, we post The Five Best Things to enjoy in the upcoming week. These things are selected by the Plum TV staff and often times by you.

They range from humble to haute and include exciting events, festivals and performances as well as dining, shopping and playing at various treasured spots, shops and institutions.

This week we're looking forward to...

Experience

1) This weekend, hop on the Hampton Jitney, grab your old fashioned pipe & magnifying glass, and get ready for Keith & Margo's Murder Mystery Weekend at Montauk Manor, from Friday, October 30 through Sunday, November 1. This totally immersive experience lets you and several other guests be slick sleuths as you try to solve the complex (and fun) murder mystery plot...but wait! Some of your fellow detectives are actually actors, possibly playing a sinister part! The package includes two nights accommodation, food all weekend...and a murderously good time! Check out the website for full details.

2) Here's one of our favorite Halloween events: On Saturday, October 31 (the big day!), East Wind hosts the Sixth Annual Halloween Costume Ball, from 7:30-11:30 p.m. Ghastly guests aged 21+ are invited to dance their scares away in the grand ballroom and enter to win over $1000 in prizes and giveaways. There will also be an open bar and holiday inspired boo-fet, featuring eggplant skeletini, spooky seafood scampi, graveyard ghoulash, and a devilish devil's food cake! Tickets are $69.95; visit the website for more information on this terrifyingly fun event!

3) Enjoy a little haunted history from the Harbor when the Southampton Trails Preservation Society presents the Haunted Sag Harbor Tour on Saturday, October 31 from 3-5 p.m. The tour meets at the Windmill on Long Wharf, and will take you on a spooky trip around town, highlighting some of the most notorious haunted houses in the area. Maybe you can even do a little trick or treating! Led by Annette Hinkle & Tony Garro. Call 631-725-5861 for more information. More local history below:

4) Break out the Kayaks! Watch the leaves changing color from out at sea! Kayak along the coastline in the bay and visit some of our wonderful nature preserves. There are a zillion places to rent kayaks (and wetsuits!) from, but our personal favorite is the Flying Point Shop. They've also got a great selection of sporty fall fashion and basically every surf & skate related accessory you could ever need! Check them out at www.flyingpointsurf.com.
