There are two ways to have a cozy Friday night. The first is to stay at home in pajama pants, make a snack and curl up on the couch to watch a movie.

The next, which was my option this past Friday, was to get dressed up and head over to Cozy Bar in SoFi (the area South of Fifth Street).

Cozy has a rare combination of qualities few other bars and lounges have in Miami Beach.

For starters, the door men are pleasant and were fast to offer advice on where I could get change to feed the meter.

Second, the bar itself is incredibly beautiful; like an upscale French café with a flare of old Hollywood glamour. The bartender TJ was very sweet and always checked in to make sure I didn’t need anything. Though all of these things were great, the best part about Cozy was the live music!

For some time now, Manolito The Gypsies (think Gypsy Kings) has been putting on quite a show on Tuesday and Friday nights. Their infectious sound travels around the room filled with locals and tourists alike.

As the evening came to a close, TJ told me that their last performance will be Tuesday, April 21 and they won’t be back until October. If you love live music, then I would highly recommend going on the 21st. If you want to check it out tomorrow, the best advice is to get their early (around 9:00 pm) or make a reservation, if you want a seat.

Check out their website at www.thecozybar.com . I know that I will definitely be there!
