The Miami Spice menu offers a variety of choices for appetizers, main course and dessert. We chose the Lobster Fricassee appetizer which was loaded with lots of delicious, juicy chunks of lobster in a saffron cream sauce with gnocchi. Very rich and filling, but amazing. $35 is a great deal, especially when you see what the actual menu prices are for each of the offerings.
It seems that the restaurant is in transition right now and so they're depleting their present wine list and making other changes to the menu and offerings. As a result, we ordered about 3 different bottles of moderately priced wines that we discovered were already out of stock. So they gave us a great MacMurray for the price of the wine we had ordered saving us about $15 on the listing price.
The main course was the lamb, cooked to perfection, although small in portion with some cold lentil dish on the side.
The dessert was a coconut ice milk that cooled the palate and left you leaving the table totally satisfied. As we left, we remained transfixed by the beauty of the bubbling marble fountain and the view of the pool from the balcony past the bar.
The service was excellent as the waiters were experienced and cordial. It appeared that they had more waiters than they needed this particular Saturday night, which assured us that they were not typically under-staffed.
We also loved the lack of excessive noise, as is usually seen at Miami Beach hot spots, and were able to eat comfortably and have undisturbed conversation.
Sometimes you pay more for the atmosphere than anything else, but Casa Casuarina properly blends ambiance with excellent food.
If you leave the restaurant with tourists taking your photo, don't be surprised. Everyone who goes to Casa Casuarina dresses up and looks like a celebrity, so just smile and go with the flow.
