Plum Telluride received one nomination for Overall Station Excellence and one nomination in the category of Politics & Government/News Single Story for a segment we produced on the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver. We are thrilled to be nominated!
Katie Klingsporn of the Telluride Daily Planet:
Flip on Plum TV, and you peer into a mirror of this small community.
There on the television screen is your neighbor, marching down main street in the Fourth of July parade. Or your co-worker, working it on the catwalk at the Telluride AIDS Benefit. Even your hairdresser is there, competing in the KOTO Lip Sync.
“Ninety percent of our content is locally produced and our goal is to celebrate and promote the spirit of this special community,” said station manager Chris Hanson...
...Right now, this small station has something big to celebrate: Plum TV Telluride has been nominated for two Emmy awards by the Heartland Chapter of the National Television Academy.
“I was really surprised, happily surprised, that we were nominated,” Hanson said. “Its feels like a real David and Goliath thing.”
One nomination is in the category of Politics and Government/News Single Story, for a piece Plum put together about the Democratic National Convention in Denver last summer. The second is for Station Excellence, which recognizes the all-around package Plum provides — from programming to writing, editing, shooting and production.
In both categories, Plum TV is up against stations from Denver — including affiliates of ABC, NBC and CBS — stations with bigger staffs and major news coverage
