The balloon pilots were still gracious enough to inflate the balloons in Town Park which made for a great show of color. The balloon launch/inflation occurs at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday during the festival, and it is well worth getting up that early to see it.
Since it was too windy to inflate the balloons for the Saturday night Main Street GLO, the balloon pilots had a great backup plan and instead illuminated the night sky with fire.
There was also a street parade led by the Rebirth Brass Band.
If people ever wonder "Why Telluride" - I think that answer is somewhere in the creative spirit, the love for outdoor play (year-round!), and an appreciation of beauty (even in the bad weather) that just spills out onto the streets during these occasions!
