2) The Vail Symposium Beaver Creek Film Series continues this week with La Belle et la Bete, on Wednesday, August 26, at 7 p.m. at the Vilar Performing Arts Center. This classic French film from 1946 tells the original story of Beauty and the Beast, and we're guessing it's without a talking candlesticks and teacups! After the film, stay for a reception and discussion with film critic Walter Chaw. Check out some of the Vail Symposium's other fantastic programs!

3) Come to Vail Valley Medical Center's ThinkFirst Townie Tour, on Saturday, August 29, starting at 9 a.m. The event is a fundraiser for VVMC's ThinkFirst program, which initiates outreach in the Vail Valley to promote helmet, seatbelt, and car seat use, and to educate on the prevention of brain and spinal cord injuries. It's a leisurely bike ride for the whole family, going along the path around Vail Village and Lionshead. There will be a start & finish line, activities, food and entertainment at the Vista Bahn...what more do you need?! Come out for a great day of fun!

4) From Sunday, August 23 through Friday, August 28, the TransRockies Run will be taking place. This 125-mile (yikes!) race from Buena Vista to Beaver Creek. Two teams will run over the course over the six days. This year has the biggest field of runners and an updated course based on suggested from last year's runners. Come greet the racers as they come into Beaver Creek on the 28th and congratulate them on a job well done!
