Vineyard boat captains are reporting excellent striper and bluefish fishing in Martha’s Vineyards offshore waters. Warming waters have begun to attract bigger fish, and most captains expect that great fishing will continue through the summer months. Check out some upcoming tournaments, or charter a boat to get involved.

Mark your calendars for Martha’s Vineyard’s 64th annual Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby. This month long event begins at 12:01am on September 13th and does not end until October 17th at 10pm. Awards and prizes are given out on a daily and weekly basis, while an overall prize is awarded at the end of the tournament on October 18th at 1pm. The location for the awards ceremony has yet to be announced. Eligible fish for prize consideration include striped bass, bluefish, bonito and false albacore.
