Michael Glasfeld, president of the New England Fast Ferry Co., said the company will offer a new incentive to state residents, knocking $20 off the normal $70 round-trip ticket this summer.

southcoasttoday.com Reports:

Fast-ferry service from New Bedford is more expensive than taking one of the Steamship Authority's vessels that depart from Woods Hole, but city and ferry officials have pitched the service as a way to get to Martha's Vineyard without fighting traffic across the Bourne Bridge and into Falmouth's congested village of Woods Hole.

The fast ferry offers one-hour express service from the city to Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs, but does not transport automobiles. The service switches to its early spring schedule today, its late-spring service on May 19 and its summer schedule from June 24 to Sept. 9.
