They range from humble to haute and include shopping, drinking, sunning, and playing at various treasured spots and shops.

EXPERIENCE

1) It's that time of year again...end of summer Fireworks in Ocean Park! This is a Martha's Vineyard MUST. The hugely popular annual tradition takes place in Oak Bluffs on Friday, August 21. Grab the fam and get there early, as the Vineyard Haven Band will be there to perform in the park gazebo starting at 8 p.m. See You There!

2) Let loose at the 148th Annual Agricultural Society Fair, where you can enjoy the rides, local farming...and the fried dough! There are also dog shows, livestock competitions, photography contests and much more. The Fair takes place at the Ag Hall on Panhandle Road in West Tisbury, from Thursday, August 20 through Sunday, August 23. The fun starts early and lasts all day, with the grounds opening at 10 a.m. and staying open until 11 p.m. PS: This is a great family event, and we suspect that America's First Family will be in attendance...maybe even Bo!

3) Catch Grand Illumination Night in Oak Bluffs! On Wednesday, August 19, you can take part in a classic Vineyard event...admiring the multi-colored lanterns and globes lighting up the brightly painted gingerbread houses. Before you stroll down the pedestrian-only streets of Cottage City, stop by the Tabernacle Church at 7 p.m. for a community sing-a-long.

4) Dont' miss a poetry performance by St. Lucia native Sassy Ross at The Yard in Chilmark on Tuesday, August 18. Sassy was a recent guest on our very own daily show, Today on the Vineyard, and she'll be reading her original works, followed by a wine and cheese reception! Find more info online at www.dancetheyard.org

5) Grab dinner and catch a live performance at Danny Quinn's in Oak Bluffs. Danny Quinn's is the island's only authentic Irish pub, with a delicious island-style take on traditional pub fare and an impressive array of lagers and ales. This great establishment makes for a great evening of grown-up fun! Drop the kids off at The Game Room nearby and enjoy!
