1) The Chilmark Road Race! A Chilmark classic, this 5k has drawn runners and walkers alike since 1976. Participate or just cheer the runners on as they race to the finish line on hilly Middle Road. 2) Divas Uncorked, a weekend long event bringing together wine experts, celebrity chefs, and wine enthusiasts! Participate in events like fine wine tasting and sampling the best of island cuisine. 3) Catch a flick at the Capawock Theater in Vineyard Haven, and then take a stroll down Main Street to Le Grenier, where chef Jean Dupon will be serving up some fine (and delicious) French cuisine. You might want to bring along a good Bordeaux to round out the meal!

4) Celebrate the centennial of the NAACP with the Martha's Vineyard Museum's event at the Tabernacle Church in Oak Bluffs. Harvard professor Patricia Sullivan will present her new book, Lift Every Voice: The NAACP and the Making of the Civil Rights Movement, with special guests: Margaret Burnham, Charles Ogletree, and Clark Johnson. Look for Patricia and the venerable journalist Charlayne Hunter-Gault on Plum TV's daily show, Today on the Vineyard.

5) Munch on some fresh egg rolls from the "Egg Roll Lady" at the West Tisbury Farmer's Market. Thi Khen Tran has been providing the island with authentic Vietnamese food for 22 years! Try our favorite, the rice paper wrapped roll, and then head on down the lane to get a cup of fresh squeezed lemonade. Hit the beach afterward to round out the perfect summer day on the vineyard!
