1) This week, the Vineyard plays host to one of the biggest music events of the year, the 1st Annual MV Songwriters Festival. On Friday, September 18 and Saturday, September 19, come on out to the Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs for this exciting festival designed to introduce top pop & country songwriters not only to a wider audience, but to one another as well. The roster boasts both veterans and rising stars, including Chris Barron, Kim Carnes, and Jeff Cohen.

2) The 64th Annual Striped Bass & Bluefish Derby has begun! Known to many as the most anticipated event of the Martha's Vineyard fishing season, this year's festivities are better than ever. It's a great time to renew friendships, enjoy the natural beauty of the island, and of course get some great fishing done. 3) If you haven't already, run (don't walk!) to Rickard's Bakery right now! They've got an amazing selection of freshly baked breads, pastries and desserts. All the goodies are made fresh daily, and only with the finest quality ingredients. Located at 114 Cook Road in Vineyard Haven.

EXPERIENCE

4) When you've finished all your beach reads for the summer, be sure to stop by the Vineyard Haven Public Library for a mini book sale, on Saturday, September 19 from 1-3 p.m., where plenty of books, audio books, and videos for all ages will be for sale. After you've stocked up, you can go down Main Street a few blocks and pick up lunch at Waterside Market, where a delicious selection of sandwiches, salads, and an all-day breakfast menu are always available.

5) On Saturday, September 19, its the annual Tivoli Day Festival in Oak Bluffs! Fun for the whole family, come join this yearly street fair on Circuit Avenue. It's basically a big block party with live entertainment, plenty of food, and great arts & crafts. The party will be going from 12-5 p.m., and admission is totally free!
