Every Monday, we post The Five Best Things to enjoy in the upcoming week. These things are selected by the Plum TV staff and often times by you.
They range from humble to haute and include exciting events, festivals and performances as well as dining, shopping and playing at various treasured spots, shops and institutions.
This week we're looking forward to...

SAVOR
1) If you haven't had one yet, now is the time to head to Sweet E's Cupcakes on Main Street in Vineyard Haven. Owner & Baker Ezra serves his one-of-a-kind confections from Thursday - Sunday in the off-season, and offers new flavors every day. Local favorites include Key Lime Pie and Chocolate Peanut Butter. And new for fall? Peppermint Stick. Yum!

SPLURGE
2) We all know that fall means major sales on the Cape and Islands, but this one is well worth the ferry-ride to the mainland. Our friends at Bayside Kitchen and Bath in Falmouth are offering 50% off on all cabinets store-wide! If you're thinking of remodeling, now's the time to give Bayside Kitchen and Bath a call at (508)-457-5900. Or visit them online at baysidekitchens.com.

PLAY
3) If you ask the locals what the best hike on the island is, you'll undoubtedly be told to head to Menemsha Hills. This protected property boasts a path to the second highest point on the island, Prospect Hill, as well as a meandering route to a stunning secluded beach. Pack a picnic lunch, bring along someone special, and get that rosy glow this weekend! For more info on this hike and others, visit www.thetrustees.org.

EXPERIENCE
4) There are lots of great local happenings this weekend, and we've got all the details! On Friday, November 6 starting at 6 p.m., Nectar's is hosting a benefit for the Darcy Family, who lost their house in a fire a few weeks ago. Put your dancing shoes on and help get this family back on its feet with Joanna Cassidy and the Sultans of Swing. Then on Saturday, November 7, head to Edgartown to hear the amazing pianist David Crohan at the Old Whaling Church, with singing sensation Katie Mayhew, at 7:30. $20 will get you a fabulous evening of entertainment that benefits the MVRHS Minnesingers.

5) Many islanders & visitors alike spend the summer envying the up-island residents who have access to the best beaches that become private during the high season. But in the off-season they are open to the public again. So bundle up and head up island to experience the beauty of Lucy Vincent Beach, Squibnocket, and other fabulous beaches. They just seem to get more magical in the fall!
