UPDATE: Plum has exclusive footage of The Obama's Summer White House, Blue Heron Farm.

Blue Heron Farm is owned by William and Molly VanDevender (who are Republicans!) of Mississippi. The property is close to 30 acres and consists of main house, guest house, boat house, horse barn and pasture land, golf green, and pool.

View footage of this beautiful estate in the attached video.

Sam Bungey of The Vineyard Gazette reports:

President Barack Obama and the First Family will rent the bucolic Blue Heron Farm off South Road in Chilmark for their vacation during the last week of August.

The 28.5-acre property some five hundred yards down Cobb’s Hill Road, spans the Chilmark and West Tisbury town line and overlooks Town Cove, the westernmost finger of the Tisbury Great Pond.

While the mechanics of renting the property were still ongoing at press time, the Gazette has learned that a rental agreement for the farm will comprise three leases, one to be held by the Obamas, another by the Secret Service and a third by a White House entourage.

The amount of the rental has not been disclosed, but up-Island properties similar to Blue Heron Farm rent for between $35,000 to $50,000 per week.

UPDATE: The Obamas will be staying on the Vineyard August 22nd through August 30th & staying in Chilmark.

In coming to the Vineyard, the first family will continue an informal presidential tradition of escaping the sweltering Washington heat to enjoy a few days (or hopefully a few weeks) of rest on the Vineyard.

Presidents have long been drawn to the island; from Ulysses S. Grant in the late 1800's to Bill Clinton (rumor has it that Chelsea will marry here in the fall) Martha's Vineyard has been a favorite respite from the daily grind for many Commander-in-Chiefs.

There are thousands of activities for the first family to chose from and we want your input! Should First Lady Michelle take daughters Sasha and Malia for sunset ice cream cones at the Galley in Menemsha? Should Mr. Obama try his hand at golf while taking in views of the Vineyard sound at Mink Meadows in Vineyard Haven?

We want to know. Send us your top 6 things for the Obama's to do while they visit the Vineyard to mv@plumtv.com and we'll publish them on our website, & discuss your suggestions on Plum Vineyard, Channel 76.

Make it personal. Make it unique. You never know who could be reading!

My understanding is that the Obamas are paying for their own vacation. So pull in your horns! If you're so "tired," go rest and leave the rest of us in peace.

With the economy still not showing improvement and millions of people out of work - a rental of this amount is an insult to the American worker whose taxes no doubt will be paying this tab along with other costs for the vacation. The suggestions to keep expenses in check don't seem to apply to those in government. Just as the Senate and Congress isn't being made to join the new 'Helathcare Plan' - if it's good for the populace then it should be good for them too.
I'm just tired of all the rhetoric we are given.
