While the story lines and gaming odds are still being drawn up for Super Bowl XLIV, another debate is raging over what, if any, economic impact the game will have on the South Florida economy. When Plum posed this question to both the Super Bowl Host Committee and a number of skeptical economists, we found about as much consensus as if we had asked Saints and Colts fans which team would win the game.

The professional athletes and celebs won't be the only thing catching your eye on Miami Beach during the Super Bowl. The South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee's Champions Arch will be illuminating the sky over Ocean and 11th throughout the week. The structure built by Gerdau Ameristeel was created with recycled steel from the Orange Bowl and Sun Life Stadium and is a tribute to the region's rich tradition of hosting Super Bowls (this year being South Florida's 10th year hosting the NFL's championship game).

A scotch fortified variation on a tequila sunrise, this cocktail packs a punch, and of course, Gabe and Elad add their own special twist. NFL Pro Bowlers came out for the official 2010 Pro Bowl weekend launch party at Miami Beach's The Clevelander. For the first time in more than 30 years the Pro Bowl isn't being played in Hawaii; this is also the first time the Pro Bowl is taking place before the Super Bowl.
