CEO
In his 10 years at NBC, Chris Glowacki played a pivotal role in the company's business development efforts in cable programming, digital broadcasting, and interactive media. Most recently, Chris was Senior VP of Corporate Strategy at CNBC, NBC's business and financial news network. While at CNBC, Chris expanded the network's business reach to include syndicated radio, educational seminars, retail licensing, and live events. He also contributed to the network's strategy of selling advertisers on the value of CNBC's upscale viewers who are not measured by traditional media measurement because they are watching outside of their home or at second homes. During this time, Chris served on the board of directors of Archipelago, the nation's first electronic stock exchange.
Prior to CNBC, Chris was the Chief Strategist for CNBC.com. CNBC.com was a project that Chris conceived and launched while serving as SVP of business development for NBC Interactive Media. The company was formed through a partnership with Telescan, Inc. a publicly traded company that Chris later joined as a board member. In 1991, Chris worked to merge CNBC.com into Microsoft's MSN Money, creating the leading on-line property for business news and financial information.
As SVP of business development for NBC Interactive, Chris negotiated over 25 investments, joint ventures, and partnerships for NBC. Chris pioneered the practice of using excess network advertising as currency in acquiring investment stakes in fast growing companies. These investments and partnerships included some of the highest profile Internet companies such as iVillage and Cnet. Also during this time, Chris worked to develop NBC's strategy for the conversion to high-definition and digital broadcasting.
Chris started his career with NBC in business development and distribution for NBC Cable Networks. During that time, Chris was part of the launch team that created America's Talking, a cable network that evolved into MSNBC. As part of that team, Chris delivered the bulk of the network's revenue through a groundbreaking partnership with on-line provider Prodigy.
Chris received an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BA from Amherst College.
