Margaret Spencer

Chief Operations Officer

Margaret's background in strategy, operations and finance give her unique experience as a COO. Prior to joining Plum, Margaret worked as an independent consultant to consumer and luxury goods companies. This is Margaret's sixth startup venture: her involvement in previous ventures includes CFO, COO, Board member, founder and investor. Margaret was introduced to Plum through Tom Scott, who was a backer of her most recent venture: The Wedding List, a multi-channel retailer of luxury wedding gifts and home furnishings. As COO/CFO of the Wedding List, Margaret ran the operations of the company and oversaw all aspects of financing, including structuring equity and debt capital transactions from angel investors, strategic partners and venture capital firms, and ultimately successfully selling the company to Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. Margaret then worked at MSLO as Vice President in its Internet division where she oversaw the integration of the company into MSLO, developed and implemented Internet strategy and orchestrated ran large-scale web development projects.

Prior to The Wedding List/MSLO, Margaret was an analyst at Bank America Securities where she covered retail REITs. She spent several years as a management consultant after business school. She formerly was an auditor at Arthur Andersen & Co and was a CPA.

Margaret received a BA from UCLA and an MBA from UC Berkeley.
