Director of Programming

Starting at the Hampton’s station over 4 years ago, Spencer instantly saw the appeal of the homespun local format that Plum was pioneering. The creative spirit of the young team and management’s openness to new ideas and willingness to take risks intrigued Spencer from the start: the possibilities to do something different here were vast.

As the head of the scheduling department at Plum, Spencer's background in media, music, production and sales have enabled him to contribute to Plum's strategic planning with management and department heads.

Prior to joining Plum, Spencer worked at several startups during the internet boom in Silicon Valley and San Francisco including Radio Advertising Sales and Internet Management and Online Advertising sales at such companies as Susquehanna Radio, Mail.com, Net2Phone and LookSmart.

Following his passion for drumming and music, he “kept his day job” but played most night’s with various bands in the Bay Area and eventually toured full time for 3 years before returning east to Miami. There he worked as an Assistant Producer on commercials for the Gap, American Express, Craftsman as well as a number of music videos and short films.

Spencer graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors degree in 1994.
