About the Show

Local Flavor is grounded in the belief that food is best when it’s seasonal, local, and when it comes from people whose names and faces you know. It is a food show that leaves behind studio kitchens and immaculately prepped ingredients and goes in search of food at its gorgeous, messy, delectable source.

In each episode, host Ben Sargent journeys to a Plum community and sets out to create a dish that captures the flavors and spirit of the place. He visits the local farms, waters, ranches, markets, and diaries and meets the individuals who grow, raise, catch, cook, and sell the ingredients he seeks. Fresh ingredients in hand, and a quick surfing or boarding session down, Ben cooks up a mouth-watering dish to feed curious strangers and friends made along the way.

About Ben

Ben was raised on clam chowder and cold water. Taught to fish and cook by his grandfather, head of Massachusetts fisheries, Ben went on to popularize his grandfather’s seafood recipes in beloved neighborhood restaurants in Brooklyn, NY and through online shows and TV appearances with Martha Stewart and Bobby Flay. Ben is also a compulsive traveler and outdoorsman who surfs, skies, hikes, dives, and horseback rides his way around the world. He packs his pots, pans, knives and assorted sporting gear on every trip he takes.
