About the Show

A half hour weekly reality show in which Academy Award nominated producer and actor, Bob Balaban, follows the building of his dreamhouse in Bridgehampton, from the framing through the finishing touches.

Meet: The Neighbors... the Count and Countess Luann DeLesseps, who attempt to block Bob's view of the Ocean by putting up a row of forty foot pine trees.

Meet: Bob's Wife... a frequent off-screen presence who is even more worried about the details than Bob is. She decides to change the floor plan several times, and still isn't sure they shouldn't be building a center hall colonial.

Watch as Bob has a crisis of confidence... and decides to change his window order, incurring the wrath of his builder, and a five percent cost over run. Listen, as Bob takes us for a walk on the beach and recounts the twenty four year saga that caused him to become a running joke among real estate brokers, and finally led to the groundbreaking at... Highland Terrace.

In other words, this Bob is the anti Bob Villa. He's not always calm, he's occasionally funny, and everything doesn't always go according to plan. Periodically Bob even has a surprise celebrity guest, and Bob and the guest attempt to help in the building process. It doesn't go well.

And yet, in the end, a high end, 6,000 square foot traditional house, plus studio, plus three car garage and pool house, will be finished by next summer.

Or at least that's what the contractor says.

About Bob Balaban Bob can be seen in the movie A Mighty Wind, and the soon to be released, Marie and Bruce, starring Julianne Moore. He played Phoebe's Dad on Friends, and was the head of NBC on Seinfeld for a number of episodes. He produced and co-starred in Gosford Park, and writes a best selling series of children's novels called McGrowl. He is currently producing movies for Warner Brothers and Fox, and is starring, producing writing and directing a series for VH1 in his spare time. Oh, and he's building a house.
