Nation's First Wind Farm: Who Owns Nantucket Sound?

On Wednesday, April 28, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced the federal government had approved a permit for Cape Wind Associates to build the first-ever offshore wind farm in the United States. This did not come as welcome news to everyone on Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, two islands that abut the proposed 130-turbine project. In fact, the wind farm issue has been the subject of fierce debate for the past nine years. Plum spoke to the leaders of local groups both in favor and opposed to this controversial project.
