Parent volunteer Sherri Wharton stopped by the MorningNoon&Night Show to talk about the Vail Mountain School Home Tour, taking place Sunday, September 21. The tour has taken place annually for 34 years and has grown from a humble kitchen tour into an event with over 400 volunteers. Seven homes in Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch will be featured on this year's tour, including the Beaver Creek home formerly owned by President Gerald Ford. All proceeds of the tour support Vail Mountain School's tuition assistance program.

Tom Harned takes us on a tour of his home, designed with the purpose of reducing his, and his family's, carbon footprint. To that end, Tom followed LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) guide lines in the construction of his home. Tom takes us on a tour of his solar panels, which provide his family with all their hot water and his constructed wetlands, which function as an earth-friendly septic unit. Tom also takes us on an extended tour of his garden, which provides his family with much of their diet and which utilizes native plants which require little water. The Harned Family are a living example of how little changes can make a big difference.

This building in Telluride's former red light district, once housed a brothel run by Dizzy, the madame of the house. The house that provided much entertainment for the miners is now a private residence, although it still maintains much of its Victorian character.
