(2009) Nantucket Film Festival: The Cove, 2010 Oscar Winner for Best Feature Documentary

Producer Fisher Stevens & star Ric O'Barry join festival director Mystelle Brabbee during the 2009 Nantucket Film Festival to discuss their film, The Cove. The Cove recently won the 2010 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. The film exposes the annual, six month long dolphin slaughter in Taiji, Japan. Stevens discusses how the film came together from over 400+ hours of footage, while O'Barry (Flipper's former trainer) shares his long history with marine life & describes how individuals can effect change and end this brutal practice. Congrats to Fisher, Ric and all involved on this amazing film and their Academy Award win!

The 2009 Nantucket Boys & Girls Club Tim Russert Summer Groove held true to its name as party goers got out of their seats and on to the dance floor with musical guests Soul Sound Revue during this year's benefit. Honorary co-chairs Maureen Orth and Luke Russert emceed the annual event while longtime supporters of the club Robin and EJ Harvey of the Seagrille catered the dinner. The Summer Groove is the Nantucket Boys and Girls Club's largest benefit raising almost 30% of the club's annual revenue.

The Boston Pops along with thousands of spectators took over Jetties Beach for the thirteenth annual Pops on Nantucket Concert to benefit the Nantucket Cottage Hospital.
