The debate over the proposed wind farm in Nantucket Sound - slated to be the first off-shore wind farm in the United States - has created deep divisions in the environmental community. Like his uncle, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been a fierce critic of the Cape Wind proposal, & is standing firm in his opposition, despite the political momentum Cape Wind has gained. We asked Kennedy how he reconciles his opposition to the project with the urgent need to create clean energy.

About 32 years ago, four sailors started out from Baxters Boathouse in Hyannis to race their sailboats to Nantucket. That race would be the first of the Figawi Race Weekends, and the beginning of what has become a Cape Cod tradition with a major fund-raising component.

If Nantucket's history was a house, the walls could be covered with photos of famous local notables like Maria Mitchell, Frederick Douglas, Lucretia Mott and Ted Anderson; souvenirs around the house would include arrowheads from the famous Wampanoag Indians, harpoons from whaling, and whale-oil burning lantern. And you could bet that the whole road leading up to the historic structure would be lined with cobblestones.
