(2009) The Dirt Series: Mountain Biking Mamas Hit The Trails
Candace Shadley, founder and director of the Dirt Series, was attempting to round up the attention of thirty excited women. Radiating confidence, humor, and business, Candace managed to direct attention to her beaming smile. She started by introducing the coaches – Lu, Julie, Penny, Angela and Jennifer. While learning a bit about them, I thought to myself “If anyone can teach me to mountain bike, it’s these women.” Boy, was I right.

Mountain Biking: Take One on Valley View Trail
As we zoomed side by side down the bike path my fiancee shouted instructions over the noise of our knobby tires. "If you need to stand up to climb," he yelled, "keep your weight towards the back so you don't spin out. When you're on a switchback, ride the outer line and keep your pedals parallel to the ground. And whatever you do, don't lean forward on the downhill!"
