Pfc. Bowe R. Bergdahl has been captured and is being held as a Prisoner of War in Afghanistan by the Taliban. Wood River Fire & Rescue organized a fundraiser for the volunteer firefighters' association & the "Bring Bowe Home" campaign. Friends & family of Bowe as well as motorcyclists from Elko, Boise, & Pocatello were on hand to lend their support.

Hailey and Bellevue elementary school children got a hands on experience with bugs at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden for their annual bug zoo festival. The exhibit was open to all ages and featured such insects as butterflies, tarantulas, scorpions, millipedes, and much more!

At The Community School in Sun Valley, the last four weeks of school is anything but dull. Considered the culminating experience, these students present their senior projects in which they travel anywhere in this valley, country, or the world to work on their experiential learning process. They partake in community service, the outdoors, academics, career oriented processes, or creative oriented projects. The senior projects give the students the chance to experience a learning process outside the traditional four walls of a classroom.

The Wood River Valley came to Hailey on Independence Day to watch this year's 4th of July Parade down Main Street. The festivities included a flyover by the US Air Force, and over 70 entrants including floats, horses, gymnastics, antique cars & trucks, and much more! It was certainly a fun time for all!

Sun Valley icons Earl & Carol Holding and Sun Valley Resort Development Director Wally Huffman were honored with lifetime achievement awards from the Idaho Division of Tourism Development. Divison of Tourism Administrator Karen Ballard praised the unending generosity of the Holdings and their lifelong efforts to protect the beauty of Sun Valley, while still moving the Resort into the modern era. Karen also shared her deep respect for Wally Huffman for his tireless dedication to and steadfast promotion of Sun Valley and Idaho.
