Plum goes inside the nearly 70 foot-tall lighthouse that's been standing at Sankaty Head since 1850. The lighthouse was originally built by the U.S Federal Government, and is now maintained by both the Coast Guard and The 'Sconset Trust. Built of mostly brick and granite, Sankaty Lighthouse is still a Coast Guard aid to navigation. Bob Felch, president of The 'Sconset Trust, explains some of the history behind the lighthouse that stands on the highest headland in southeastern New England. With 80 feet to spare to the eroding ocean cliff's edge, however, the famous lighthouse will soon have to be moved by professional engineers.
