NHA Senior Interpreter, Erik Ingmundson, tells the tale of the Fire Hose Cart House on Gardner Street. The structure was built in 1886 and is one of the only structures of it's kind, still on the island.
Made possible by a $20,000 grant from the Community Preservation Committee, the Nantucket Historical Association is set to initiate a new project this winter 2012: renovating the Fire Hose Cart House, located at 8 Gardner St., a structure dating from 1886 and the last remaining 19th-century firehouse on the island.
